Wayne is a Registered Psychologist and ACT Therapist Wayne completed his Honours degree in Psychology at Macquarie University in 1997 and has been a registered Psychologist and full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) since April 2000. He has been an ACT practitioner since 2006.
In addition to his current private consulting, coaching and counselling practice, Wayne previously held a position as a Psychologist/Counsellor at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA) and at the University of New South Wales Counselling and Psychological Service (CAPS) from 2001 to 2020. He also works as an executive coach in his own private consultancy and as a consultant for Learning Quest. |
Wayne’s previous work experience in psychological services includes working as a counsellor at the UTS counselling service, as an Addictive Behaviours and Gambling counsellor at Waverley Action for Youth Services in Bondi, and as an organisational psychologist and corporate coach for CoyneDidsbury-PDI in Sydney.
Originally from New Zealand, Wayne enjoyed previous careers as a Tennis Coach, Pharmacist and Record Producer/Songwriter before making the transition to Psychology. He has special interests in field of personality and creativity research.
Wayne’s experience as a Pharmacist also gives him a professional understanding of psychotropic medication and the issues that can arise for clients who are taking them.
Wayne specialises in providing counselling for a range of presentations including; Depression, Anxiety, Adjustment Issues, Men's Issues, Addictive Behaviours; Relationship Problems, Trauma incidents, Bereavement; Academic Difficulties (e.g procrastination and perfectionism), Career Transition and Midlife issues, Executive and Leadership Coaching and Entertainment Psychology. Wayne has an experience in working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, First Nations Peoples and has expertise working with clients in the creative arts fields.
Wayne has a warm, empathetic counselling style adopting a flexible approach and tailoring his approach to suit his clients’ needs. He has a training in and considerable experience using evidence based therapy models including; Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT) Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Schema-Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy.
